Something Old

Kristin and I are doing a picture a day; she uses her camera, I use my paint (and brush or knife). We take turns choosing a subject for the pictures on Mondays. It was Kristin's turn, and she chose "something old".
The brother of my husband's grandfather went to America when he was a young man. He sent his brother (grandfather), a pocket watch from America. When my husband was confirmed, his grandfather gave him the pocket watch as a gift.

1. Mini Sunflowers

I discovered ACEO. This painting is 2.5" x 3.5". The canvas was so rough I decided to use my knife rather than brushes, except for the signature. Für Otto Karl Welbers.

Sunshine

Peter and I used to ride our horse through the Idaho country-side, and sing, "You Are My Sunshine". A sunflower seems like sunshine one can hold in the hand or arrange in a bouquet. Maybe that's why I like sunflowers so much, and why they remind me of Peter, and the wonderful days on our horse.
