About the Cream

22 x 16 cm
There's definitely the right way to serve tea in Ostfriesland.  The hostess adds the right amount of cream at the right time, the right way.

One day I offered a visitor a mug of tea.  She was on the job and didn't have time for a proper tea party, but I tried to be proper otherwise, and added what I thought was the proper amount of cream for a mug of tea.  She asked for more cream, and I was happy to oblige.  I added the same dose to my tea.  Traditions are nice, but what's really nice, is to enjoy tea the way we like it.

I know we get cream from cows, not chickens :-)

Hallelujah

22 x 27 cm
C.S. Lewis opened wonderful doors for me. The first one wasn't the door to Narnia, but was "The Great Divorce." Then I read every one of his books that I could find. Probably every other sentence I spoke referred to C.S. Lewis. After reading "The Chronicles of Narnia" I bought and restored an old wardrobe and made a lion and a witch.
That was a long time ago. I wanted to have another lion now, but I couldn't find one that was majestic and huggable until my friend and I went lion hunting in Kiel and found Hal.

Tea Run

32 x 22 cm
Three of us have office\studio space at home. When someone needs a break, or just decides it's time for tea, they collect everyone's mug, make tea, and deliver.

Tea Timing

11 x 18 cm
How long to steep the tea: feed the cat or take out the garbage. Or, if it's been a long day, vegetate and watch the clock for 3 minutes.

Good to the Last Drop

18 x 13 cm

Amy (our cat) got the last drop. That's why the handle of the cream pitcher is missing.

The Bronze Affair

19,5 x 19,5 cm

As I head off to the flea market, Roland might as me to look for something particular. Sometimes it's something not so common, but as I walk down the main way I find one. Just one. And then I don't see one there again. That's exactly what happened in The Bronze Affair.

One Cheerio at a Time

18 x 13 cm
One of my hospital stays was at a low point in life.  I didn't touch the food brought in by the nurses.  They keep track of this, you know, and after a few days, the doctors threatened to give me an IV if I didn't start eating.  The next tray was breakfast, and I stared at the food.  I didn't want to eat, but I didn't want an IV.  I stared at the Cheerios.  I couldn't pour them in a bowl, and add milk, but after a few minutes I could eat one Cheerio.  I don't remember how many I ate that morning, but I escaped the IV and worked out everything one Cheerio at a time.

A Gift That Works

18 x 11,5 cm
Roland came home with a small gift.  When he handed it to me he said something to the effect that I could eat it after I painted it.  I could take that a couple of different ways, but I know Roland, and there were no strings attached.

The Goldenish Egg

11,5 x 9,5 cm
I don't have the hen that laid this egg.  But the egg wouldn't bring much money anyway.  It's not a golden egg, it's a goldenish egg.  And it's wax.

Tang

19 x 25,5 cm
My daughter's nickname is Tang, but she probably doesn't know it.  My other daughter and I were texting one day, and predictive texting wrote "tang" instead of the sister's name.   I didn't notice before I sent it off, and the texting daughter wrote back laughing, so we dubbed the sister Tang.
To texting, and people we love.
