Pepper Shaker
aceo |
I've been looking for glass salt and pepper shakers for painting, and when I saw this one in the store, it was pretty much what I had in mind. But it was the only one. I put salt in it because I need a salt shaker more often than a pepper shaker.
The dangerous thing is that I Googled pepper shaker (only because I live in Germany, where small words are combined into gargantuan words, and I couldn't remember if this was one word or two), and found a beautiful set of pewter and glass shakers from Italy. Oh oh.

Lean On Me
18 x 34,5 cm
This guy had two sections when I brought him home. When a third section appeared, he started tipping over, so I removed the new one. And kept doing so with subsequent growth. But one day, when I wasn't looking, there came a few new ones and I didn't have the heart to take them off. I leaned him the right direction against the window for support, and everything is fine.

Did you know that pawns jump? All over the place. Every time I looked, they were in different places. I didn't even dare get a drink for fear there wouldn't be any left when I came back. I was glad when I thought I had some positioning with them, and they started looking like pawns. Although one reminded me of Darth Vader when I was painting it.

By The Old Oak Tree
Die aelteste Eiche Europas
We missed the turn Garmin suggested, so we consulted the map and decided to take some small roads again. Along the way we saw the sign that pointed to the oldest oak tree in Europe, and went up the hill to see. The tree is on private property, but the farmer allows people to walk over to the tree which stands just past the end of the road.
A couple of years ago the tree was struck by lightning, and people filled it with cement, trying to help. Later on they found out the cement collected moisture and was making the tree rot from inside. A wealthy widow funded the project to remove the cement and a tree doctor who saves trees all over Europe, came to help. The future looks good.
